It is a welded shower screen of Italian manufacture, with regular perforation that spreads water evenly over the coffee bed.
When should it be replaced?
Once the holes clog with limescale and coffee oils, water stops flowing evenly and the crema turns patchy. A deformed screen has the same effect.
