Why a brass body?
Brass stores heat and returns it to the coffee, which prevents a temperature drop between back-to-back shots — the reason flavour stays steady through the busiest hours.
When should it be replaced?
A rim knocked out of true after a fall, wings worn by years of locking, a leak around the handle with a new gasket, or cracks in the handle near its bolt. None of these can be repaired.
