Double filter basket from the Competition series, made by IMS, holding 12 to 18 grams of ground coffee. It measures 68 mm at the rim and 60 mm in the body, takes a 58 mm tamper, stands 24.5 mm high and is ridgeless inside. The 44 mm perforated area carries 0.30 mm conically drilled holes with an electropolished finish, for La Cimbali portafilters.
It is set up for doses of 12 to 18 grams, the usual range for a double. That wide margin allows the recipe to be adjusted without changing basket, provided a 58 mm tamper is used.
What are the exact dimensions?
A 68 mm rim, a 60 mm body and 24.5 mm in height, with a 44 mm perforated area. Measure the current basket across the rim before ordering, since that dimension decides how it seats in the portafilter.
What does ridgeless mean?
It has no internal ridge to hold a retaining spring. That makes knocking out the puck and cleaning easier, but calls for a portafilter with its own spring, or care when lifting the basket out.
What difference does conical electropolished drilling make?
The 0.30 mm holes are drilled conically and the surface is electropolished, which cuts residue build-up and evens out the passage of water. The result is a more uniform extraction across the whole puck.
