What are its dimensions?
An M5 thread with a calibrated 0.6 mm orifice. The orifice sets the flow reaching the group, so the size has to be matched exactly.
Why a ruby insert?
Ruby is extremely hard and does not wear or widen under continuous flow, unlike brass. The body is stainless steel, which stands up to the pressure and heat of the group.
When should it be replaced?
When scale or grounds block it and group flow drops. Cleaning is often enough, but a damaged orifice changes extraction and should be replaced.
