Stainless steel ball for the steam and hot-water wand joint, 14.3 × 29 mm, intended for 10 mm pipe. It is the part that lets the wand swivel in every direction while sealing pressurised steam between two gasketed seats. Once its surface is scored or pitted, no new seal will cure the leak.

Will it fit my wand joint?
The measurements decide: a 14.3 × 29 mm ball for a 10 mm wand pipe. Measure the ball currently fitted, or photograph it next to a ruler and send us the image, so we can confirm compatibility before you order.
How does a steam ball joint work?
The wand has to swivel in every direction and at the same time hold pressurised steam. The engineering answer is a polished ball compressed between two gasketed seats: the smooth surface rotates and the seals close. Over time, scale and wear leave that surface rough.
How do I know it is the ball and not the seals?
If new seals are already fitted and the joint still drips, hold the ball up to the light: scoring or pitting means replacement. A dry, stiff rotation that needs force to move the wand confirms the same diagnosis.
What does replacement involve?
Work only with the machine switched off and the boiler depressurised. Renew both seat seals at the same time, because a new ball on worn seals solves only half the problem. Tighten the joint nut until the wand swivels without leaking, without forcing it.
Why should the ball be stainless steel?
