La Cimbali basket retaining spring — 1.0 mm dia., three-point design

Retaining spring in 1.0 mm wire with a three-point design, holding the basket inside the portafilter so it cannot jump out when you knock the puck. The 1.0 mm wire matches the groove of La Cimbali portafilters, giving a firm grip without deforming the basket rim. A wear part worth checking at every portafilter service.
This version uses 1.0 mm wire and is intended for La Cimbali portafilters. Measure the old spring: the step up to the 1.2 mm version is small but decisive for the grip.
How is it fitted?
Compress the spring and seat it in the internal groove of the portafilter with the basket already in place. A thin screwdriver is enough; never force or over-open the wire.
What does a three-point design mean?
The wire bears on three points of the rim instead of pressing all the way round. It spreads the load more evenly and is easier to lift out for cleaning.
When should it be replaced?
When the basket drops out as you knock the puck, when it rattles and turns inside the portafilter, or when the spring has lost tension and no longer seats in the groove.
