Will it fit my espresso machine?
The valve is two-way, with 1/8″ connections and a 220/230 V coil, and is listed for La Marzocco and other machines using the same fitting. Compare the thread, the coil voltage and the flow direction with the valve currently fitted; if in doubt, send us a photograph of the part.
What is the difference between a two-way and a three-way valve?
A two-way solenoid valve has one inlet and one outlet: it opens when energised and a spring closes it when power is cut. The brew group valve is normally a three-way type, because it also releases pressure at the end of the shot, so it cannot be replaced by this model.
What pressure and flow does it handle?
The orifice is DN 2.5 and maximum working pressure is 14 bar, which leaves ample margin for the water circuit of a professional machine. At rest the valve is shut, so it is a normally closed type.
How can I tell whether the coil or the valve body has failed?
Measure the coil with a multimeter: an infinite reading means a burnt winding. If the coil is sound but the valve does not operate, the core and seat are stuck with scale — clean them and, if the fault remains, replace the assembly. Always work with the machine unplugged.
